Does anyone have any information on a brewery I think existed in Nottingham some time ago. I think I saw some bottles some time ago in a local museum. Thanks!!

The only Hickton entry that I can find in our flagship book - A Century of British Brewers Plus, covering arund 10,000 British brewers operating between 1890 - 2004, is Ernest W Hickton at Swan, 69 Hawkes Lane, Hilltop, West Bromwich in 1906.
Perhaps others know of more elsewhere?
Best wishes

Hello, I think I might be able to help somewhat. My family history is pretty sketchy, but I believe that my great grandmother was a Hickton, and I believe the Hickton Brewery went out of business in her lifetime. Unfortunately, both of my grand-parents died a couple of years ago, but my grandmother’s brother and sister are still alive. I can definately confirm the existence of the Hickton Brewery, and I’m sure it was based in Notts, but beyond that I would have to direct you to get in contact with other members of my family. However, if you want to find further information, please let me know and I will pass on the appropriate details. Re. Hickton bottles, I grew up seeing them on all the family mantlepieces - always a bit of pride going on, although there are occassional muttered stories of one of the Mr. Hicktons who took a way too much of his own product and perhaps was the cause of its downfall.
