Dear Mr Walton,

The standard work on brewery archives, 'The brewing Industry. A guide to historical records' by Lesley Richmond and Alison Turton published in 1990 makes no reference to Radcliffe & Co and it is therefore unlikely that the records of the company survive. There is also no listing of the records of W. Butler itself in Turton & Richardson so your task is indeed difficult.

The BHS publication 'Century of British Breweries plus' has the following listing (p52):
Radcliffe & Co. Ltd, Cross Street, 96 Worcester Cross. Registered 1931. Acquired by W. Butler & Co. Ltd of Wolverhampton with 40 houses in 1946'

Successive editions of 'The Manual of British and Foreign Brewery Companies' have a listing for Radcliffe & Co. which confirms the above information and also gives the names of the directors over the years and the share capital, which was £30,000 in 1931, rising to £40,000 by 1934 and remaining at that when acquired by W Butler.

Sorry not to be of more help. I doubt if the above tells you anything you do not already know. Good luck with your investigations.
